Welcome

Thomas Hancox read Music at St Peter's College, University of Oxford, from where he graduated with a double-first, having held both academic and instrumental scholarships whilst there. He subsequently learnt with Patrick Gallois at the École Nationale de Musique, Paris, and currently studies with Paul Edmund-Davies and Samuel Coles at the Royal Academy of Music, with generous support from the Musicians Benevolent Fund, the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, the Craxton Memorial Trust, and the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

As a flautist, Thomas has performed as a soloist alongside Trevor Pinnock, collaborated with ensembles including the Allegri and Sacconi string quartets, played as guest principal flute of the Philharmonia Orchestra, and also worked with the orchestra of English National Opera, the Dunedin Consort, the London Handel Orchestra, the Saraband Consort, and the Locrian Ensemble.

A committed teacher, he works with pupils on a private basis and also on several summer courses (the London Flute Academy; the Flute Kitchen, Harrogate).

Having previously worked as the Junior Editor for Flute, the Journal of the British Flute Society, Thomas now acts as an animateur and co-ordinator for CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust.
